American Horror Story, A Song Of Ice and Fire, and more!

So I haven't had much sleep but I've woken up realising its been far far far too long since I've blogged!
My excuses are that I was very busy with assignments before Christmas and then it was Christmas so I was busy then! But I now have an iPad and have the blogger app so I don't have an excuse anymore!

One thing I've really gotten into recently is American Horror Story! I saw it advertised a while ago and knew I'd like it but didn't watch it when it was first aired. When I got home for Xmas I saw it was on FX so I recorded the series! Now when I got back from my mums I saw that my boyfriend had stopped the record series so we only had 7 episodes! We started watching them last Friday night and I was hooked! I found it scary and interesting and I wanted to watch it all! Sadly, needing sleep means that you can't watch everything in one go so we watched the remaining recorded episodes on Saturday night! So that's all 7 watched and I loved them all! I'm a fan of ghost stuff anyway but I loved all of the stories of the Murder House! I loved the fact the ghosts were people rather than foggy white apparitions! Some bits were horrible... Like the gimp man ghost... Love that and hate it at the same time!! I also love the story we go through with the ghosts as well as the family, the character of Moira is cool, I love the two sides of her personality but I feel so sorry for her! Tate is pretty cool, also a sad story there! I also love the editing, it really builds tension and makes it scary! So basically I can't wait to be with the boyfriend again so we can find the remaining episodes! (when we find a series we both like, we only ever watch it together!)

I think the last book I blogged about was Game of Thrones? Well I'm now on book three part two! It's A Storm of Swords 2: Blood and Gold. I love these books so much! It took me a while to read the first book as I'd seen the series so wasn't that excited as I knew what was going to happen but I've read the following ones so quickly as they are amazing! I love all of the characters still, even the new ones we're introduced to, that's why I love George R. R. Martin, he creates the most amazing characters and makes you love them straight away! I have been sad, shocked, scared, happy and I've laughed; everything you want/need from a book/series of books! I urge everyone to read them and I also cannot wait for the second series on tv as they kept the first series so close to the original book, I hope they do the same with this series!

I haven't been watching many films as I've been travelling between families over the holidays but I have been playing on my new wii games in all places! If you like dancing... get Just Dance 3 and also the Michael Jackson Experience is so cool! I don't actually like MJ, I only like his music but dancing like him is fun!
I'm sure that Stacey and I will watch loads of films soon so I will be back to regular blogging!

It's been a busy week for me with an assignment I've been doing! I cannot wait to let my hair down tomorrow night at the Preview Screening of the film Turbulence at The Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham!

I am so excited for it! Hopefully there'll be loads of people all dressed up and having a laugh!
This is my outfit! It'll just be less piratey and more ROCKSTAR! =D
I love re-using costumes I've already got and these wet look leggings and the jacket would be great to use for tomorrow night! Shame I don't have those massive boots though!

I really can't wait for tomorrow and think the atmosphere is going to be great - way better (and cheaper) than the cinema! Might even go out afterwards...!

10 Days Until Turbulence Comes To Cheltenham!

So it's until 10 days until the Preview Screening of Turbulence in the Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham!
We've been busy putting the word out around Cheltenham by putting leaflets in the Parabola Arts Centre and the Town Hall! We've also put up the awesome posters around our uni! Hopefully this will make lots of people come along and have a great time. One of the posters is in the uni assignment room which should get a lot of views as it's where all the students go to drop off and pick up their assignments!

I cannot wait! I am really looking forward to dressing up - I have my outfit all planned now and it's going to be 80s rockstar inspired! I wonder what everyone will wear! I'm going to be recycling my pirate outfit and turning it rockstar!
It will be my first Film Party and I'm really looking forward to the fun atmosphere and partying!

Turbulence Film Event!

I love Twitter!
I never usually tweet to 'famous' people or people other than my friends, I normally just retweet or ramble! But when I was set an assignment to study the short film Bouncer, I found the director Michael Baig Clifford and tweeted him! I asked him for help with my assignment. He told me I wasn't allowed to cheat which was fair enough! I was very excited to have a reply from a BAFTA award winner! I was even more excited when he tweeted me again asking for me and my friend Stacey to become his Cheltenham Ladies for his new independant film Turbulence!
This meant us finding a venue to show his film! All this was a really good opportunity for us Film Studies students!
We went to a local pub - The Frog and Fiddle as we knew that they were about to do a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a special Barn they have. Michael thought it sounded cool so we got the ball rolling!
We have now booked the venue for Friday the 18th of November! The dress code is Wannabe Rockstar which will be very fun! The Preview Screening will be a fun party and I'm really looking forward to it!

Here are some of the Poster photos in the Frog and Fiddle!
If you're in the area please come along!

Tickets are only £5!

Attack The Block, X-Men: First Class, The Wrestler

It's been a while again!
I was on a five hour train the other day with my laptop so what do I do - watch 2 films then listen to an entire Beatles album!

The first film I watched was Attack The Block! I absolutely loved it! I think that you have to be careful with watch you watch on a train as there are people around you, I had headphones but I still don't want anyone to get offended. I thought a comedy about an alien invasion would be fine! Luckily I had a youngish dude sat next to me so I knew it'd be ok!
The only thing was - I kept having to hold in my laughter! I very much enjoyed it! It was hilarious - the characters were great and Nick Frost was hilarious!  I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants a laugh but it does have a great and heart warming end as well! I really can't say much more about it - you just have to see it!

So when that ended I went straight onto X-Men: First Class which was also very very very very good! If you haven't seen it seriously watch it! I loved it all, the casting was great and so was the story and how they introduced the Mutants. James McAvoy was great - he added a bit of Austin Powers to Professor X (In a weird but cool way! Groooovy!) and Michael Fassbender was very very good as young Magneto! Again it's another that I don't want to ruin for those who haven't seen it so just watch it!

Now the other night we watched The Wrestler. I decided to add it to my LoveFilm because I'd heard it was great and my uncle loves it. I was very happily surprised - I loved the story and how it wasn't all wrestling matches but focused more on the character of Randy. The character was really deep and sad! I think Stacey fell asleep a bit but I loved it! I loved following the character on his highs and lows (mostly lows) and I absolutely loved the end! It is a bit of a tear jerker but it is definitely worth a watch! Mickey Rourke was really good and you completely believe in the character.

And now MisFits has started again and so has Tool Academy! So I may update about them even though they aren't as good as the above mentioned films! I am also still reading Game Of Thrones! (I've been busy with uni work and a personal project as well so haven't had much reading time!)

If any of you readers are from Cheltenham - come to this: Preview Of Turbulence Film!

Red State, Straw Dogs and more!

So I haven't blogged for an embarrassingly long time! :/ The worst thing is, there isn't even a real reason for it - I think I just got out of the swing of things! But I'm back now and I've watched loads of films :)

We went to the cinema to see Red State on Monday! Know if you've read my previous blogs you may have picked up on the fact that I love Kevin Smith! I also love horrors so I was very excited when I heard ages ago that he was going to make a horror! I was also very intrigued with the subject of the film as I think that the Westboro Church are crazy! And I don't think that that should offend anyone as most people agree! I loved following Smith's journey with Red State with distributing it himself as I think it's great that he wants to help smaller filmmakers see how they can realise their dreams. Now to the film...I won't say too much about the plot as I don't want to ruin it but I loved it! Now most people aren't surprised that I loved it as I love Smith but I didn't have high expectations because, obviously - it's a completely different style to what he normally does but I did really enjoy it and thought he did it very well! My friend Stacey liked it but she thought that he could of done better! But each to their own! I loved all of the action and was shocked by a lot of the little twists throughout and also absolutely loved the comedic elements Smith put in - they just reminded us that it was his film :) I very much recommend it to anyone who enjoys a horror and a bit of gore! GO SEE IT!

We just finished watching the original Straw Dogs, it was cool because in the cinema on Monday we saw the trailer for the new re-make and I already had the original on my LoveFilm list and it arrived today! I loved it! I loved Dustin Hoffman and loved that it was filmed down the road from where my mum lives now! I also thought the story was very interesting although I don't want to read the book as books are always more brutal than the film for me as my head really takes everything and makes it loads worse! I do totally understand why the BBFC banned Straw Dogs in the UK as the rape scene is very weird... similar to Evil Dead if you've seen that! I will watch the new one as I'd like to see how they do it - from the trailer it seemed as if they kept it pretty close but we'll see!

We also watched The Next Three Days which was weird - we had to turn it off after an hour and a half because we were both falling asleep and then put it on today after a few days and watched the rest...The first part was so boring and strange but then the second half was good - basically they should of hired a better Editor! The only thing I definitely enjoyed was that Elizabeth Banks was playing a suspected murderer - I was so used to seeing her as Granny Panties in Zac and Miri or other funny roles but she did it so well!
I also want to see Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark although the trailer scared us enough! I hate things where a child is in danger!! So I'll wait for it to come to DVD so that I don't embarrass myself!

I've watched loads of films over the summer but this blog would take forever if I spoke about them all! So I'll just give a quick list of ones I enjoyed -
Source Code
Right at your Door
Bridesmaids
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2!
Friends With Benefits
Bad Teacher
and more!!

Oh...I have a Tumblr now...Follow me if you like but I'm still getting the hang of it so don't judge :P
